South Africa has produced some of the most extraordinary creative and technological talent in the world. And for too long, that talent has had nowhere to fully collide.

LUMENOCITY is the collision.

Born in Cape Town in 2026, LUMENOCITY is South Africa's first institution dedicated to the intersection of light art, creative technology, and human imagination. It brings together artists, technologists, coders, engineers and designers, entirely South African, and gives them a brief, the tools, and the freedom to build work that has never existed before.

Then it opens the city at night and invites everyone in. Not a festival. Not a light show. Not an imported concept with a local coat of paint. LUMENOCITY is a South African institution, built from the ground up by South African hands, illuminating South African cities for the world to see.
